About Eileen
Eileen Karakashian received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, majoring in Advertising Design. For over a decade, she was an art director in advertising, producing both national TV and print campaigns. Her work has been featured in Adweek and Advertising Age magazine. Eileen has art directed campaigns for Ernst & Young, Mercedes-Benz, Capital One, Proctor & Gamble and Partnership for Drug Free America.
Today, Eileen paints with mixed media on large canvas and smaller works on paper. By emphasizing aesthetics, she tries to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based only on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations. Her paintings open a unique poetic vein. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned. By rejecting an objective truth and global cultural narratives, she creates with daily, recognizable elements, an unprecedented situation in which the viewer is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased position.
